Nestled in the rainforest of the Akuapem Hills, north of Aburi and just outside Accra, Asenema Waterfall is a serene escape and one of the lesser-known gems of the Eastern Region. While the area is home to many waterfalls, Asenema stands out due to its proximity—only 15 minutes from Akropong and a short 5-minute walk from the main road along a marked trail.
The waterfall feeds into a lively stream nearby, with the best flow typically seen during the rainy season. Visitors are treated to a scenic drive to the site, offering stunning views of the region’s rolling hills.
Essential Information for Visitors:
- Entry Fee: A small fee of 20 GHC is charged at the gate.
- Facilities: While there is a car park available, there are no vendors or food stalls around, so visitors should bring their own food, water, and drinks.
- Timing: The best time to visit is in the morning, as the area gets dark by 5 PM. There are no lights at the waterfall or along the pathway, so early visits are advisable.
- Footwear: Waterproof sandals, slippers, or Crocs are ideal for the dusty walk from the car park to the waterfall. Sneakers are not recommended.
- Swimming: The water is clean and safe for swimming, making it perfect for a refreshing dip.
