Starting January 1, 2025, the United Kingdom will complete its transition to Electronic Visas (E-Visas), phasing out all physical visa documents. This includes passport visa stamps, Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs), and Biometric Residence Cards (BRCs). The update was shared by the Ghana Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British High Commission in Ghana, advising travelers who intend to stay in the UK for over six months to apply for an E-Visa.
Those with existing BRPs are required to switch to E-Visas by December 31, 2024. Failure to do so could lead to entry complications after the new year. Travelers, especially those planning to visit the UK for holidays, are urged to transition to the E-Visa system promptly to avoid potential disruptions at the border.
