Rie Osei’s Villaggio Vista Rooftop Set Reflects Ghana’s Emerging Intimate Soul Movement

Rie Osei, a Ghanaian artist, on Sunday, 15th February 2026, delivered an impressive intimate performance at the Villaggio Vista Rooftop, soundtracking a private joint birthday celebration for real estate developers Uncle Sam (77th birthday) and Kojo Owusu Antwi (30th birthday).

Accompanied by guitarist Julian Andoh and saxophonist Papa Yaw Bonzy, Osei presented a carefully designed set that highlighted her vocal sensitivity and cross-generational influences.

A standout moment came with the live acoustic performance of her unreleased single “Simon Says,” alongside reinterpretations of Sade’s “Smooth Operator,” the great Kojo Antwi’s “Kakayi,” John Legend and Tems’ “Ordinary People,” and Tems’ “Me & U.”

Staged within one of Accra’s most culturally symbolic private spaces, the performance underscored Osei’s growing presence within a new wave of Ghanaian artists redefining how live music is experienced—shifting focus from spectacle to intimacy, musicianship, and emotional precision.

The evening marked a significant step in Rie Osei’s emergence as one of the country’s most compelling live voices and performing artists.
